The DIC participated in the 4th Microfinance Annual Lake Conference, held in Mangochi from 23–24 October 2026 and organised by the Malawi Microfinance Network (MAMN) under the theme “One Sector, One Vision: Balancing Innovation, Compliance & Impact.”

The DIC’s Chief Operating Officer, Mtchaisi Chimtengo, presented on the Corporation’s mandate and how it protects eligible depositors up to K3.0 million per depositor per bank. She highlighted the role of deposit insurance in safeguarding savings and strengthening public confidence in the financial system, while sharing insights into ongoing efforts to extend protection to non-bank deposit-taking financial institutions.

She also joined fellow industry leaders in a panel discussion on partnerships and collaboration for sector development, exploring how cooperation can expand financial inclusion, strengthen resilience and support sustainable growth.

At the DIC public awareness desk, participants learned more about deposit protection and tested their knowledge through a quiz, with prizes up for grabs.

DIC thanks the Malawi Microfinance Network (MAMN) for organising the conference and providing a platform for dialogue on the future of the microfinance sector in Malawi.
