The DIC took part in the ECAMA 2026 Annual Lakeshore Conference, held in Mangochi from 29–30 October 2026, under the theme “From Policy to Practice: Making Reforms Work.”

The conference brought together economists, policymakers and other key stakeholders to discuss economic policy and reforms, and their contribution to Malawi’s development.

As part of Malawi’s financial safety net, the DIC protects eligible depositors in the event of a member bank failure, helping to maintain financial stability and public confidence in the banking system. Its participation allowed the Corporation to engage economic policy stakeholders on the role of deposit insurance in safeguarding savings and supporting a sound financial sector.

The DIC also set up an exhibition booth where participants learned about the Corporation’s mandate, how the Deposit Insurance Scheme works and the protection available to depositors. An interactive quiz let participants test their knowledge of deposit insurance, with prizes for the winners.

The DIC remains committed to promoting public awareness of deposit insurance and strengthening confidence in Malawi’s financial system.
